valet. Normally I'm the kinda guy that says "If they make you valet, go somewhere else" but there are times when you must. A wedding is a good example and for me, I have some clients that force it (no street parking at all). As such, I have a few tricks I use, some of which have been covered: -Check the odometer right in front of the valet. Make him aware you are doing so. This is the best approach but takes some confrontation. -If you're a wimp, you can lie and tell them your car has a special racing transmission or if your car doesn't look the part, you can say it has a problem with the transmission. Something about not going into gear right, really hard to work, etc. This will confuse most valets and I'll usually go into a long discussion as to what's wrong with it. Usually by then they let ME park the car to get rid of me. -I've also told a valet that I wanted to know where he was going to park the car and then proceeded to tell him I'm very cautious with it because my last Z was wrecked by a valet who was joyriding. This perks their ears, let me tell you. So far, a combination of these things has worked for me. Very, VERY rarely do I ever have to let a valet park the car at all, and the few times I've let them, they drive it with kid gloves and the odometer is always perfect.
